WHYY Explores the Successes and Challenges of El Centro

PLC is proud to announce that one of its members, El Centro de Estudiantes, was featured in 2 episodes of WHYY's podcast series SCHOOLED, which gives the insider’s story of America’s public schools through the eyes of the students, parents, and educators. It was produced by Keystone Crossroads and hosted by Kevin McCorry.

El Centro is an alternative program for students who re-engage after dropping out of high school. The episodes tell the stories of several students' personal and school lives. They also highlight El Centro's successes and challenges. You'll hear about how the school intentionally builds community, emphasizes deep relationships between advisors (teachers) and students, and utilizes project-based and real-world learning to help students authentically prepare for life after high school.
